Young painter and landartist Mariliin Kindsiko has participated twice in the international landart festival "Abiko Open Air" in Japan. She gets her inspiration from falling love, hot tubs and mountain Fuji peeking behind the clouds, cigarette automats, abundance of people and clean streets, small earthquakes and spending nights in ancient houses.

18.00 Eco-punk 2010: Plants have a right to sing too University of Tartu’s Botanic Gardens
Presented by: The Sensational Tartu Spring Band, and the mixed choir of University of Tartu Students’ Environmental Protection Club
2010 has been declared the year of biodiversity. The point of the concert is to raise awareness of the variety of life, in a musical fashion. The Botanic Gardens will play host to an unlikely group: original material from the Spring Band will be accompanied by choir music, from folk songs to punk.

The mixed choir of University of Tartu Students’ Environmental Protection Club is a unique singing group that is now in its sixth year. Its members are brought together by two qualities: an interest in choir song, and an interest in meeting great people. Nature-loving students are always on the move, and that makes their lives interesting, since it is easy to explain new concepts to a person who has seen the world. The choir’s biggest asset is its youth and its openness. The singers are an extremely active bunch, and have a broad range of interests: from singing in various choirs, to travelling, to mountain climbing.

The choir has a tradition of performing at the Environmental Protection Club’s anniversary party, and of giving concerts every spring in the courtyard of the Botanical Gardens. Preparations for these events are extremely thorough. Last year was the first time that the Sensational Tartu Spring Band joined them in celebrating the club’s birthday party.

The Sensational Tartu Spring Band started out as an ironic performance at the Student Song event of the 1996 Tartu Spring Days. Its purpose was to bring music with a message to the age of the crude disco rumble. Now, celebrating its 14th anniversary, the Spring Band is disappointed: the youth is lost, since young people can’t be bothered to think, nor want freedom. Hey, you students, hoping for cushy jobs! Are you relying on Ansip to help you out of the crisis? Those jobs and that money are yours to create, and no amount of ass-kissing, beer, or senile professors will make a difference.

2010 is the year of biodiversity. The aim of the concert is to raise awareness of variety. The Botanic Gardens will play host to an unlikely group: original material from the Spring Band will be accompanied by choir music, from folk songs to punk.
